COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

DIRECTORATE: MUNICIPAL MANAGER
Task Level 13: R 435 504 to R 565 224 (Basic Salary)

R 641 514 to R 809 250 (Total Cost to Council Package)
(PERMANENT APPOINTMENT)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: 

Appropriate B Degree in Communication/ Public relations/ Marketing/ Media Studies. 
At least 2-5 years’ relevant experience 
Knowledge and understanding of Public Communication, Public relations and Marketing. 
Valid Driver’s License.
Experience in graphic design 
Experience in broadcast and social media

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

Compile and distribute press releases. 
Respond to media queries on a day-to-day basis. 
Promote the Municipality’s brand by running external and in-house media events. 
Communicate the Municipality’s vision by developing and implementing short-term and long-term media strategies

for specific projects and initiatives. 
Conceptualize, maintain and create updated content for all communication platforms, including newsletters,

publications, website and social media. 

Liaise with key departments to develop pro-active communications plans to support their business objectives,
projects and programs. 

Develop suitable ways of communicating complex information to all municipal stakeholders. 

Proof reading and editing of public documents and publications. 

Promote and attend municipal events during and after business hours. 
